10 Perks of Living FrugallyNow that 2014 is well under way, you might be looking for ways to ensure you’re living up to your financial resolutions you made on New Year’s. But, let’s be honest. Staying savvy with your finances isn’t always the easiest thing to do. So, how about a little motivation? You might not have realized that many frugal lifestyle adjustments come with their own little perks. These are several of our favorites:

  1. DIY projects are affordable and fun.
  2. Ordering water with your meals is good for your body and your wallet.
  3. Sometimes, the most fun social engagements are absolutely free. Try going on a walk with a friend, taking your dog to the park or re-discovering the magic of the public library.
  4. Cooking at home is a life skill you really do want to learn. In addition to being frugal, it allows you to explore new, healthy recipes that put you in control of your portions.
  5. You’ll learn to love what your town has to offer. Scenic drives can be completely refreshing. And “stay-cations” are actually pretty great. Plus, you might just love getting your culture fix through local museums, art galleries and monuments.
  6. You can kick that habit of splurging too much, too often. When you do choose to indulge, it’ll be even sweeter. And don’t forget, “antique” is just as trendy as brand new.
  7. You’ll stress less. Living frugally brings about a peace of mind from knowing you’re in control of your finances. Using your debit card and tracking your day-to-day spending means you don’t have to worry about increasing your debt through daily spending. And, let’s be honest, you’re going to love your newfound title of “Coupon Whiz.”
  8. You’ll be demonstrating your commitment to living responsibly for the greater good. After all, conserving energy is good for the electric bill and the environment.
  9. Exercise is totally doable on a budget. Try jogging around a scenic part of your town or joining a recreational sports team in your area.
  10. You’ll likely inspire others with your savvy approach to living frugally.
